Campaign Political Action Committee Materials, 1976-2000

 Series

Scope and Contents

This series documents the Political Action Committees (PAC) of the organization created to find potential political candidates to endorse. Potential candidates filled out questionnaires that would help the caucus determine the candidate's stance on women's issues such as federally funded day care, abortion, and the Equal Rights Amendment. Following the questionnaire, potential candidates would then be interviewed by 4-5 caucaus members to further determine how the potential candidate would help support women's issues. Candidates would then be notified via mail whether or not the NWPC would endorse them. As the organization was non-partisan, Democrat and Republican women candidates would be endorsed. In addition, the caucus also endorsed male political candidates; however, male candidates could not receive funding per the policies of National Women's Poltitcal Caucas.

Included within this series are candidate interviews and questionaires from various men and women politicians such as Ron Didiron Jr, Miriam E. Wolff, Frank Biehl, Maureen Hansen, Pete Carrillo, Ken Yeager and many other candidates; correspondence to and from candidates; nomination recommendations and reports; candidate's publicity materials and the Political Action Committee strategies and procedures.
