Scope and Content of Collection

Volume 3 consists of seventy-two (prints 24-95) oversized black and white mounted photographs depicting a range of Italian paintings found in various repositories in Florence, Italy between the 13th and 16th centuries. Within this series, most creators of the photographed artifacts are identified. The list of artists include such renowned figures as Mariotto Albertinelli, Fra Angelico, Zanobi di Benedetto Strozzi, Alesso Baldovinetti, Sandro Botticelli, Michaelangelo Buonarroti, and Leonardo da Vinci. The images include depictions of panel paintings, works of tempera and gold leaf, oil on wood, alterpeices, and shrines. Among this series’ most celebrated works are Strozzi’s “Madonna of the Star”, Sarto’s "Madonna of the Harpies", and Botticelli’s "Madonna of the Pomegranate." Stone identified the negative number and art style and the period on the verso of each print
