Series I. Creative Writing, 1932 - 1940
Series Scope and Content Summary
This series documents a selection of Jean Holloway’s creative writing activities, including poetry and short stories. Holloway used both lyric and narrative poetry styles, with some poems containing correction marks from professors and her own rhythm and meter notations. The poems and short stories represent some of her class assignments while a student at San Jose State College. Several of Holloway’s class assignments include notes from a professor suggesting where the work could be submitted for publication. Poems about Washington Square, San Jose State College writing professor Carl Holliday, and a short story about the same professor are of special interest for local historians. Files are arranged by format.
