This series documents the many committees, organizations, and projects Secretary Mineta was involved with following his departure as Secretary of Transportation. Topics of interest include: United States-Japan relations; high speed, rail including the California High Speed Rail Project; Japanese Airlines (JAL) bankruptcy; Japanese-American incarceration; Asian-American culture and history, and the development of the NextGen air transportation system. Secretary Mineta’s involvement with Hill & Knowlton, a public-relations firm where he served as Vice Chairman from 2007-2012, is documented in this series. As Vice-Chairman of Hill & Knowlton, Mineta led many projects utilizing his expertise in the area of public transportation and United-States-Asian relations, including the California High Speed Rail project, the Washington Metro Transit Authority Tyson’s Corner Metro Extension Project, and the Japanese Airlines (JAL) bankruptcy. Other notable organizations he was involved with during this time period include All Nippon Airlines (ANA), Bowles Hall Alumni Association, CULCON United-States-Japan Conference on Cultural & Educational Interchange, Eno Center for Transportation, and the Asian/Pacific American Heritage Association.
