Scope and Contents

Art prints by European artists. There is a selection of Old Master prints, including works by Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528), Hans Leonhard Schäufelein (1480-1540), Hermans zoon van Rijn Rembrandt (1606-1669), Salvador Rosa (1615-1673) and Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778). There are also a large number of satirical 18th century English prints by William Hogarth (1697-1764) and Isaac Robert Cruikshank (1789-1856). The selection of mid-twentieth century Eastern European and Scandinavian prints were purchased by SJSU Art faculty and artist Robert Freimark for the library’s collection. Some other well-known artists represented in this series are Henri Matisse (1869-1954), Marc Chagall (1887-1985), and Salvador Dalí (1904-1989).
