Constituent Mail: Postcards - NRA, 2001
Scope and Contents
This series is composed of Mike Honda’s personal papers, including correspondence, accomplishments, and an oral history of his early youth and experiences in a Japanese Internment Camp. The majority of this series consists of mail sent to Honda's office from constituents, covering a wide variety of subjects. The subjects covered include topics relevant to the post-9/11 era, such as the racial profiling of Muslim Americans; arming airline pilots; and the war in Afganistan. Other subject matter includes attempts to stop the closure of the peer-to-peer file sharing service Napster; environmental issues like logging in National Parks, drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and the dumping of nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain; and preserving Social Security and Medicare programs.
