Faculty Papers, Clippings, and Correspondence - Norton I, Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico
Scope and Contents
The bulk of this series consists of clippings of news articles featuring SJSU faculty primarily from the Spartan Daily and the San Jose Mercury News. Other materials include correspondence to and from SJSU faculty, papers produced by faculty including personal research/notes/memos, administrative documents, pamphlets, photographs, retirement programs, memorial services of deceased faculty, obituaries, and various publications by and about SJSU faculty members.
Also included in this series are copies of The Annual President's Scholar's Address, starting from its inception in 1974 which was delivered by Arturo B. Fallico, Professor of Philosophy through the 1984 address delivered by Dr. Robert A. Hicks, Professor of Psychology. The President's Annual Scholar's Address, which became obsolete after 1984, honored members of faculty with high distinction through its recognition of prominent scholarly inquiry and activity, and who contributed to the intellectual and cultural tradition of San José State University.
Notable figures in this series include: Professor of History, Charles B. Burdick; SJSU Alumnus and Professor of Kinesiology, Dr. Harry Edwards; Allen Ginsberg; Norton I, Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico; and First Librarian of the San Jose State Normal School, Ruth Royce.
