Scope and Contents
The Singer Manufacturing Company Advertising Cards: Pictures of California Collection consists of 20 black and white postcards (001-020) depicting historic and geographic sites in California. The Singer Manufacturing Co. was established in 1851. Singer Manufacturing Co. produced the pictures as collectible cards as well as a form of advertising for the company. The California Missions are prominently represented. Also included are views of Stanford University, scenic views of California’s natural landscape, the Arizona Garden at the historic Del Monte Hotel, and outdoor scenes in Pasadena in Southern California.
