Scope and Content of Collection

Volume 2 is comprised of seventeen (07-23) oversized black and white mounted photographs depicting a range of Italian sculptures and reliefs, found in various repositories in Florence, Italy originating between the 15th and 16th centuries. Within this Volume, most of the artists of the photographed artifacts are identified. The list of artists includes such renowned figures as Luca della Robbia, Andrea della Robbia, Giovanni della Robbia, Antonio Rossellino, Andrea del Verrocchio, and Michaelangelo Buonarroti. Celebrated works include Luca della Robbia’s “Madonna of the Apple” and Michaelangelo’s “Pieta.” Stone identified the negative number and art style and the period on the verso of each print.
